A small Arab state is annexed by the army of General Kilbaby, a ruthless terrorist and madman. The U.S. Ministry of Defense decides to send a squadron of the best Apache helicopters to the conflict region, with the task of eliminating the enemy's troops and, as a result, depriving them of the resources necessary to continue military operations. I don't have to add that it's you who will play the role of the pilot, whose incredible abilities will help to neutralize the nasty terrorist.

The main aim of the game is to destroy various military objects: radar stations, factories, airports or warehouses full of weapons. From time to time you will also have to save someone, but generally more total destruction here than heroic rallies of one man each, with the second fire of the enemy. Your helicopter is equipped with three weapons: machine gun, Hellfire rockets and Hydra missiles. The first one is perfect for eliminating enemy infantry, the heavier assortment should be used only when contacting tanks or anti-aircraft guns. The amount of ammunition is limited, as is the amount of fuel, so from time to time you will have to make the necessary refills. As the Desert Strike has a typically arcane character, controlling a helicopter is very easy. The game is played with cursors and keys responsible for shooting from a selected weapon. The collection of ammunition boxes and barrels full of oil is done automatically, to do this, you just have to hang it over the object - the other pilot will pull it on board himself. The Strike Desert contains four large missions, during which we will perform several tasks in any order. The game is very difficult and requires really great manual skills - there are three in life, but the enemy attacks with such a frequency that it is often difficult to avoid his fire at the same time and focus on the exact hit in the meantime.

The action of the game is presented in isometric projection. Initially, such a view can be difficult to control a helicopter, but you can get used to it quickly. Graphic design does not impress, although it is legible - in this type of productions, when a lot is happening on the screen, it's really a huge advantage. The sound is also like that, the Amiga version, which served as a basis for conversion, looked much better in this topic.
