Desync is a dynamic shooter developed by The Foregone Syndicate studio. It has been released for PC by Adult Swim Games company.

Game mechanics

Desync uses first-person perspective (FPP) and is based on facing hordes of enemies, led by powerful bosses called Zone Defenders who defend access to each stage. Vast arsenal includes pistols, machine guns, shotguns and explosives, all of them with alternative fire mode. Players also collect the so-called Fragments, which can be traded for new weapons and upgrades for character.

While proper handling of weapons is a key to success, players must also make use of possibilities offered by environment (there are many traps that enemy can be lured in, like spikes), dodging enemies’ assaults and combining attacks into effective combinations that deal more damage. These are important because, obviously, our hero isn’t immortal, although his health can be replenished by picking up power-ups dropped by the enemies after death.

As a result, it's annoying instead of challenging, the combat feels sluggish and not fast or varied, and the whole thing is a bit too much of system hog for what it has to offer. Better stick to Quake…

GameZone: 6.5 / 10 by Daniel R. Miller

DESYNC’s shooting mostly feels good, but ultimately this game is for a niche and mildly masochistic crowd. Hopefully, your mouse and keyboard can take a beating, because that’s exactly what this game is going to provide.

God is a Geek: 6.5 / 10 by Dale Emasiri

Beautiful aesthetics and soundtrack wrapping a Doom-alike shooter, slightly marred by unfair and punishing gameplay that could use a good dose of balancing.
