Downfall is a project carried out almost entirely by Remigiusz Michalski, founder of the independent studio Harvester Games. The production is distinguished by a mature plot and a large dose of gore elements (blood, nakedness, brutal scenes, etc.), so it is addressed only to adult players.

The main character, Joe Davis, spends his holidays with his wife. As a result of a raging storm and the strange behaviour of a woman, the couple decides to stay overnight in Devonshire. Married couple rent a room in a small Quiet Haven hotel. The next morning Joe discovers that his wife has disappeared. Looking for it, the protagonist makes more and more terrifying discoveries concerning the place where he found himself and its inhabitants....

Throughout most of the game, the player directs Joe's actions, trying to find Iva and survive encounters with characters born of nightmares. The creator of Downfall has prepared a total of more than 70 locations to visit during the game. As befits a classic adventure, the main element of the game is exploring rooms, conducting conversations with independent characters and solving puzzles. The latter are primarily based on items of equipment that need to be found and used in the right way.
