Mechanics

In Fear Surrounds, each player controls one character. A maximum of fifteen players take part in the game. Travellers must work together, completing specific tasks that ultimately unlock an escape route. The fast pace of the gameplay is maintained by the fact that without completing the objectives the characters slowly lose their life points.

Not all travellers are who they seem, however. The game secretly assigns some players the role of wraiths, whose task is to murder people. These phantoms do not differ in appearance from ordinary humans. Therefore, mortals must constantly watch their companions to discover who among them is not who they claim to be. In turn, the priority for the ghosts is to hide their identity for as long as possible.

From time to time, there are meetings where a vote is held to eliminate the wraiths from the group. However, if the travelers are not careful, they can put an innocent person to death in this way.

Both factions have several types of characters with unique abilities. Among humans there are professions such as priest, doctor, or avenger. In turn, in the case of wraiths we have a large selection of phenomena with magical powers.

We experience all of this on several maps. The available ones include an abandoned hospital, an old prison and a school. Each of these levels has unique objectives to complete.

Game modes

Apart from the standard mode described above, the game also offers several additional gameplay variants, including battle royale. There is no story campaign here instead.

Technical aspects

Fear Surrounds features fully 3D graphics that effectively establishes a horror atmosphere.
