A unique adventure game from the Dutch studio of Sassybot. Fragments of Him tells a story of Will – a young man who died in a car accident, leaving his mourning partner Harry and their friend Sarah. Game uses first-person perspective with players as observers, having them not only recreate past events with the protagonist, but also make decisions that affect the plot and fate of the characters.

Fragments of Him is and adventure game from SassyBot studio that expands on warm-welcomed, free prototype of the same name, which has been developed within 48 hours for 2013’s Ludum Dare 26 contest.

Plot

The story of Fragments of Him for PC and XONE revolves around tragic death of young man named Will, who died in a car accident. He left behind his mourning friends and family, with the game focusing on them trying to overcome this loss. Among them is Harry, a life partner of Will, who returns to empty house filled with objects that remind him of his loved one. Another is Sarah, a close friend of both men. Lastly, there is Mary, grandmother of Will, who feels lonely and betrayed by people around her.

Game mechanics

Fragments of Him uses first-person perspective, though we never control any certain character. We are more of non-personalized observer, a representation of all characters’ psyche. We can witness the last memories about Will, as well as play through events that occurred after his death. This lets us shape the story and final fate of all characters. Interestingly, there are no typical puzzles, as the game focuses on following and affecting the narration.
