Freedom Planet on PC, WiiU, etc., is an original production of GalaxyTrail studio, modeled on 2D platformers from the first half of the 1990s. The title refers to the old Sonic the Hedgehog titles and focuses on a fast-paced gameplay.
Plot
Freedom Planet tells the story of anthropomorphic animals - a dragon named Lilac, Carol the wildcat, and Milli the basset - who one day meet Torque, who came from space. They learn from him about the world-threatening intergalactic warlord Arktivus Brevon, who plans to obtain a powerful stone. The three friends set out on a long journey to stop him and prevent conflict between the three nations on their planet.
Mechanics
Freedom Planet, released on PC, WiiU etc., is a classic 2D platformer combining arcade and logical elements. The title combines the assumptions of typical representatives of the genre such as Sonic the Hedgehog, with a combat system known, for example, from the Mega Man series. Our character has a health bar and can survive more than one hit. Additionally, the production of GalaxyTrail studio is distinguished by the possibility of playing with three characters with different skills and features. Each of them has slightly different strengths and weaknesses, as well as unique attacks.
Game modes
In addition to the basic story mode, the developers have also included a time mode. The game has achievements system - we can unlock them by fulfilling the requirements set by the developers.
Technical aspects
Freedom Planet pays tribute to old platformers not only in terms of gameplay mechanics but also in terms of graphics. The game resembles the classics from the 16-bit consoles. Of course, the production has been adapted to current standards - it supports high resolutions and has good-looking textures, but at first glance, you can see that the creators wanted to reflect the atmosphere of the old titles.
