The player is tasked with supporting the warriors led by Burnoth, son of Baldeg, in the fight against the forces of Evil, as well as facilitating the alliance with the Ents – the ancient dwellers of Fangorn.

Authors also tried to adhere to historical facts, such as the growing influence of catholic church or the Inquisition. Darklands doesn’t feature a clear plotline, offering unbounded freedom of playing and fulfilling quests instead.
