The player assumes the role of Reika Rekkeiji and arrives on a world controlled by robots known as Ajeets. Due to an experiment, the heroine is transformed into a cyborg, which enables her to challenge the mechanic invaders. Giga Wreckers presents the action from the side view, and gameplay mostly consists of exploring huge levels, jumping on platforms, and battling more or less dangerous enemies.
Developed by an independent studio, Game Freak, Giga Wrecker for PC is a mixture of a 2D platformer, Metroidvania, and a logic title.
The action of Giga Wrecker takes place in a distant future. The world has fallen to pieces after the invasion of the robots called Ajeets. Three years after this event, a mysterious girl is thrown into the same prison in which the protagonist – Reika Rekkeiji – is kept. According to the girl, the heroine will lead the human kind to extinction. Unfortunately, she can reveal nothing more, because the robots abduct her and badly hurt Reika. However, the protagonist does not give up, and decides to participate in a strange experiment that transforms her into a cyborg. With her new possibilities, she can face Ajeets.
Giga Wrecker published on PC presents the action from the side perspective. Gameplay comes down to exploring huge levels – just like in many games in this genre; a number of locations can be accessed only after you obtain a required ability. The set of the heroine’s skills is quite impressive – the operation she has undergone involved implanting a mechanic arm, which enables her to manipulate debris lying about. Most of the logic and environmental puzzles are based on this element – thanks to Lock, the girl can create boxes with which she can get to hard-to-reach places; Javelin enables her to form new platforms; with Drill she can penetrate different environment elements.
Due to the fact that the locations are filled not only with traps, but also enemies (including bosses), nothing stops you from taking advantage of those skills during combat. After all, a big metal box can also serve as a projectile. The heroine can also carry out quick and deadly attacks with a classic blade. Interestingly, the blade’s look can be customised with the blueprints you collect during gameplay.
Even though Giga Wrecker offers single-player only, the built-in editor enables you to create your own levels and to share them with the whole game community.
Giga Wreckers put out on PC features decent graphics inspired by the anime and manga style. The quick pace is intensified by a dynamic, electronic soundtrack.

Game Ratings for Giga Wrecker Video Game.
Digital Chumps: 7 / 10 by Eric Layman
Unsteady motion requires forgiveness. Exacting movement demands precision. Giga Wrecker Alt's puzzle-platforming wants to have it both ways and gets trapped between frustration and satisfaction. For all of its inventive mechanics and generous agency, Giga Wrecker Alt could have benefited from more clarity and cohesion.
Nintendo Life: 7 / 10 by Dom Reseigh-Lincoln
When it's not giving the world more reasons to 'Catch 'Em All', Game Freak continues to deliver interesting and unexpected forays into other genres. Much like Tembo the Badass Elephant before it, Giga Wrecker Alt. is a quirky left-turn that takes the exploration staples of a 2D Metroidvania and combines it with a destructible environment puzzle system for some creative and hugely rewarding puzzles. Combat is quite forgettable, but sucker-punching a boss with a giant ball can be ridiculous fun when you pull it off. It's looks might not be that memorable, but it's still a worthy way to make a mess on Switch.
PlayStation Universe: 8.5 / 10 by Timothy Nunes
Giga Wrecker Alt marries puzzling with Metroidvania beautifully, offering up just enough challenge without getting in its own way. Despite its few stumbles, Giga Wrecker Alt is one of those out-of-nowhere games that's well worth your time.
