The story in Hello Kitty Island Adventure is about restoring the island to its former glory and it's done by working together with known characters. There are also additional activities, like gardening or decorating our own space.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is an adventure game set in the universe created by the Japanese company Sanrio, known from movies and animated series, video games, and various gadgets and toys. The development of the game was developed by Sunblink studio.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure takes us to the titular island, where we arrive at the invitation of My Melody, who is opening a souvenir shop in the local Big Adventures Park. Unfortunately, things are not going as they should, as the park turns out to be abandoned. To make matters worse, My Melo's friends get separated. From now on, the task of restoring the island to its former splendor rests on our shoulders.
We start the game in Hello Kitty Island Adventure by creating a character. The game offers us a wide range of species, faces and body shapes, as well as colors and patterns, which are maintained in an aesthetic that blends well with the world of Hello Kitty & Friends. We can additionally adapt our appearance to individual preferences, using a wide range of clothes.
The open world in the game includes a range of biomes, among which we will find Spooky Swamp and haunted residence, fiery Mount Hothead, underwater Rainbow Reef or Gemstone Mountain caves.
While exploring these locations, we get to know the inhabitants and perform quests for them, as well as spend time with them in various ways. For example, Hello Kitty teaches us baking, Kuromi is eager to show us how to brew magical potions, together with Keroppi we collect creatures, while Badtz-maru shares with us the secrets of fishing.
The game also allows us to freely explore the island. This can lead to finding hidden Gudetama, the acquisition of which often involves solving puzzles. We can do this alone or in the company of other characters. They can be invited to share our adventures after reaching an appropriate level of friendship.
The icing on the cake are various events, such as the welcoming of summer or the birthdays of specific characters. The fun is also diversified by changing weather conditions, which bring new creatures, chests and rewards associated with them.
The game also allows us to put down roots and create our own space, which we can decorate as we see fit, using furniture and decorations. Moreover, by renovating other cottages, we attract new guests to the island, and with them - additional tasks and plotlines. Apart from that, we can take care of gardening.
We can play Hello Kitty Island Adventure alone or in cooperative mode over the Internet.
The graphic design of Hello Kitty Island Adventure is maintained in the style known from other products set in the world of Hello Kitty & Friends.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure has finally landed on consoles, and it's the perfect tropical vacation for anyone searching for that next cozy adventure. While I did run into some technical issues on Nintendo Switch, they were minor enough that most players will not be phased by them. If you are looking for a new cozy game to play daily in 2025, Hello Kitty Island Adventure should be at the top of your list.
