An arcade adventure game developed by Runic Games, an American studio behind the Torchlight series. In Hob, we assume the role of a hero who wakes up in a beautiful but dangerous world on the verge of annihilation. The protagonist does not remember how he came to be in that place, and he will learn the answers for his questions only as the story progresses.
Hob is an arcade adventure game for PC and PS4 developed by Runic Games. The studio is known primarily for the critically acclaimed Torchlight hack ‘n’ slash game series.
In the game, we assume the role of a hero who wakes up in a beautiful but dangerous world, which stands on the verge of annihilation. The protagonist does not remember how he came to be in that place and will learn the answers for his questions only as the story will unfold. What’s interesting, the production does not feature any text or dialogues which gives the players’ imagination a lot of room to do its magic.
The gameplay takes place in an open world that can be freely traversed. At the same time, the mechanics somewhat resemble solutions from typical platformer games. The core of the gameplay is exploration and interaction with the encountered lifeforms and the planet itself. There is no shortage of traps that wait for the protagonist as well as quite numerous logic puzzles to solve. The key to success in the game is to discover how to survive in an alien and hostile environment that constantly changes. The items we find and the protagonist’s skills we discover will prove useful and let us access previously inaccessible places as well as to take control over nature to shape it to our liking.
Hob for PC and PS4 is characterized by original and slightly artistic graphics, partially done in the cel-shading technique that simultaneously amazes with the beauty of the game world and intimidates with the amount of the danger that await the hero.

Game Ratings for Hob Video Game.
God is a Geek: 8 / 10 by Gary Bailey
With great level design and a satisfying mixture of puzzles and combat, Hob is one of the most beautiful adventures in a while. From humble beginnings, its scope will often take your breath away.
IGN: 7.8 / 10 by Leif Johnson
Hob is a beautiful Zelda-like puzzler with fun combat elements that takes place on an enchanting world where nature and machinery alter the landscape as easily as a twist of a Rubik's cube. The wordless approach to the story creates some confusion and the fix camera sometimes results in unnecessary deaths, but never does the time spent with Hob feel wasted.
Hardcore Gamer: 3 / 5 by Jordan Helm
Though it pains to proclaim such a promising title as this — given how obviously ambitious its world-building stands, how undeniably strange-but-enticing its organic-mechanical aesthetic is or how inviting the otherwise isolating ambience of its sound design is — Hob may well be one of the more disappointing showings for the genre this year when all is said and done.
