Although slashers and bullet hell shooter productions for a long time had little in common, over the years there have been titles that have successfully begun to combine their elements. One such hybrid is Homura Hime, an action game that is the work of Crimson Dusk, an independent studio from Taiwan.
In Homura Hime, events are viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). The salt of the gameplay are clashes with opponents. On the way of the main heroine stand minor demons acting as serial adversaries, as well as arch-demons playing the role of bosses. During duels with the latter the screen is most often flooded with bullets, and we have to use our dexterity and reflexes to effectively dodge them and launch accurate attacks, as well as combine them into effective combos.
As we progress, we unlock special weapons and equipment, so we can face more and more challenges over time. In addition, platforming elements have been implemented in the game. As we traverse the levels, we jump on objects and bounce off them, covering considerable distances in the air and reaching hard-to-reach places.
In Homura Hime we find ourselves in a universe where the souls of people burdened with strong emotions and grief at the moment of death transform into arch-demons sowing contamination and creating new minor demons.
With the appearance of five demonic girls, the world faced annihilation. The only hope for it is the titular Homura Hime, or "Princess of Flame," and her assistant Ann. The protagonist and her companion are tasked with cracking down on the threat before it's too p?ft to do so.
The visuals of the Homura Hime game are kept in a manga style.

Game Ratings for Homura Hime Video Game.
Game8: 84 / 100 by Alfonso Majarucon
Homura Hime is a slick hack-and-slash and bullet hell hybrid that naturally forces you to think in both mindsets at once. It’s a game that, beneath its vibrant designs and bright color palette, lies a surprisingly dark story filled with genuine shock value. It may not reinvent the genre, but it executes its ideas with enough confidence to leave a lasting impression.
Gert Lush Gaming: 7.4 / 10 by Jim Smale
Homura Hime is a volatile mix of swordplay and bullet hell that creates a hypnotic rhythm for any action fan. While the massive difficulty spikes during boss fights and the heavy reliance on reflex-based parrying can kill the momentum, the flashy combat and responsive controls keep you coming back. It’s a world where every strike carries weight, and even if you’re just button-mashing, you’ll look like an absolute badass doing it. A solid, stylish 3D brawler that survives its own chaos.
SmashPad: 3.5 / 5 by Chris Penwell
Homura Hime isn’t perfect, as it can be repetitive at points, but it is certainly a lot of fun to play despite the indie budget you can detect.
