Inside is the second project of the independent Danish studio PlayDead, which became famous by creating the cult game Limbo. The game's development was partially funded by a grant from the Danish government. The story tells about a young boy who must stop the forces of evil that are trying to take over the world by experimenting on humans. The gameplay mechanics are similar to classic platformer games.

Inside is an action platformer with similar style to Limbo, the game that was surprisingly successful on Xbox 360 console in 2010 and later on PlayStation 3 and PC.

The game was developed by Danish studio Playdead led by Dino Patti. Among the key authors of the game there is Arnt Jensen as well. His artistic vision of Limbo was the decisive factor of the success of first game developed by these developers. The Danish Film Institute financially supported the developers.

Plot and mechanics

In Inside the player controls an anonymous boy who travels through dark, rainy universe. He must stop the forces of evil that are trying to take over the world by experimenting on humans. Facing these forces means solving more or less complicated riddles and interacting with the surroundings. Many times it will require high manual skills and quick reflex.

It's About Time Games Became Part of the Curriculum!

This War of Mine became (not mandatory, but still) part of the curriculum in Polish high-schools. Can we agree it's about time games became part of the education program? They often carry the same message as books, yet in more accessible form.

DualShockers: 9 / 10

Inside won’t be for everyone, and likely will never carry the prestige that Limbo garnered years ago. However, it is a game made for those able to appreciate the nuance and artistry behind game design and building atmosphere. Though short, Inside is an amazing one-sitting gameplay experience for enthusiasts and indie-lovers that frankly should not be missed, no matter where you play it.

Game Revolution: 4.5 / 5 by Peter Paras

Although not the breakthrough that was Limboback in 2010, Inside is nonetheless a beautifully-crafted refinement of that experience. The art direction is just as haunting, but in a way that's entirely its own. The amazing musical score can be transporting while at the same time oppressive. And the big finale is open to interpretation in the best way possible. I can't wait to discuss every aspect of this experience with others. I'm still thinking about being inside one of the year's most memorable games.
