DISTANT is an original platform game, which is the debut project of the independent Australian studio Slingshot and Satchel. The game was published by Snowman, a company that released the warmly-received Alto's Adventure
In DISTANT the players find themselves in a pastel, oneiric world. Their task is to prevent the progressive destruction of the fantasy land. In addition, the protagonist must face up to their own past and learn the price of sacrifice. During the game, the player gets to know the subsequent threads of the enigmatic story, step by step, putting together the next elements of the puzzle.
In DISTANT the action is presented in side perspective. The game focuses on exploring unusual surroundings, jumping on platforms and overcoming various obstacles. From time to time, the player must also solve uncomplicated environmental puzzles and use the character's special abilities, such as "shooting" himself into the air over long distances.
DISTANT is characterized by decent two-dimensional visuals. Detailed environment and character design bring to mind the familiar PlayStation title named Journey. The whole thing is complemented by an atmospheric music.
