A tactical game created specifically for VR goggles. Landfall is set in the far future, where the Earth was almost completely covered by waters of a gigantic ocean and humans are fighting one another over each and every inch of land. The player takes on the role of a military commander whose task is to defeat the enemy, making use of any means available, such as mechs, bombers, or technologically advanced special attacks.

Landfall for PC is a tactical game created by Force Field, specifically for VR goggles (the game was co-produced by the Oculus VR company).

Plot

The game is set in far future, when a substantial part of the Earth is covered by a gigantic ocean created as a result of a global cataclysm. The survivors have been fighting one another for each and every inch of dry land. The player assumes the role of a military commander and is thrown into the midst of a civil war.

Mechanics

The player's goal here is to defeat the enemy forces, making use of advanced special abilities and mechs capable of causing great mayhem within the ranks of the enemy. What distinguishes Landfall from other similar games however, is the fact that the player can switch between the FPP and TPP modes, which makes it easier to remain aware of the in-game surroundings on the battlefield. Support for Virtual Reality allowed the creators to implement a series of original functions, such as an ability to look around freely by moving one's head, or silhouettes of other players visible above the map.

Game modes

Landfall for PC offers three game modes. In the story campaign, the player has to complete a set of diverse missions. In the competition-based multiplayer mode, the player can put their skills to the test when fighting a living opponent. In the co-op mode on the other hand, the players complete subsequent objectives collectively.

Technical aspects

Landfall comes with high-quality, three-dimensional visuals. The game debuted as an exclusive title for Oculus Rift and thus the VR goggles are required to launch.
