The Layers of Fear game from 2023 was initially treated as the third part of this series of first-person horror games, but its creators from the Krakow-based Bloober Team studio considered the next production - simply titled Layers of Fear 3- to be a full-fledged "trio".
At the time of its announcement in February 2026 - the event marked the tenth anniversary of the series - nothing was yet known about the plot or gameplay. All we had at our disposal was the enigmatic slogan that accompanied the first teaser trailer: "Some things never leave the walls. They only learn to wait."

Layers of Fear is a series of adventure games maintained in the convention of psychological horror, developed by the Polish company Bloober Team - an independent development studio founded in 2008. A strong inspiration for the creators of the first part was a playable teaser of the long-awaited but never completed Silent Hills - the next installment in the cult horror game series from Konami studios. The reference to such a famous title attracted the attention of both domestic and international players, and the game's success motivated the developers to work on the next projects of this ilk.
