A social deduction game reminiscent of titles like Among Us. Played from the perspective of our character, Lockdown Protocol pits a group of players who are completing objectives to find a way out of the complex against secret saboteurs who are trying to prevent their success.
Social deduction games are a genre that gives some players a dual identity, while forcing the others to uncover the saboteurs before it's too late. Lockdown Protocol described here is a part of this genre and was developed by the independent studio Mirage Creative Lab from Corsica.
In Lockdown Protocol, the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP).
The game places a group of players in a modern complex, assigning them a shared list of objective to be completed within a limited time. These missions involve interacting with objects and using various tools. The constantly ticking clock requires participants to communicate and cooperate efficiently, as well as share available tools (each character can carry two items).
Among the group are saboteurs who, working in secret, must do everything they can to make life difficult for the others. Since they also need to cooperate with each other, the game allows them to recognize one another. To fulfill their assigned duties, they can hide items, spread misinformation, falsely accuse others of betrayal (which could lead to being removed from the crew if the group decides so), or even kill their victims.
The game implements a stamina system, which depletes during intense activities such as running or jumping. Additionally, it serves as a kind of "shield" and can absorb some damage. Although it regenerates automatically, its maximum amount depends on the health bar capacity.
Communication with other players is made possible by voice chat. It takes into account obstacles between participants in a conversation, as well as the distance separating them. This makes it possible to isolate ourselves from the rest of the players, for example, to secretly discuss a plan of action.
Lockdown Protocol allows only for multiplayer gameplay over the Internet. It can be played by 3 to 8 people.
