Weforge Studio is an independent development team from Australia, whose founders met while playing DayZ. For their debut project, the developers chose to create a cooperative horror game with elements of extraction games, titled Macabre.

Gameplay

In Macabre we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP).

Pillaging the Rift

During the game, we play as daredevils who decide to plunder the unstable Rift. We are talking about a procedurally generated location, where randomly assigned goals are waiting to be accomplished, and rare resources are waiting to be acquired. Our objectives primarily involve collecting items and interacting with elements of the environment. The loot we seek includes powerful artifacts and items from various timelines.

Monster hunting us

For our mission to end successfully, it is not enough that we complete all tasks. We still have to reach the exit in one piece, which is not an easy thing to do. The titular monster is hot on our heels, not only making excellent use of its claws (which usually results in a tragic end for us), but also carefully observing us and adapting to our behavior.

Improvisation and companions of misfortune

Since we cannot fight directly with the monster hunting us, the key to success is to act quietly and break away from patterns in favor of improvisation. Our success is also ensured by close cooperation with the other members of the team. However, we must be on guard, because in trying to save their own skin, our allies may betray us. For example, they can decide to stun us, turning us into easy prey for the adversary. We also have such a possibility.
