A narrative-driven adventure game created by Oldblood - an independent developer. The player takes on the role of a man who is sure that he will become a sadist in the future - the protagonist is haunted by hallucinations filled with brutality and those are supposedly premonitions of the crimes he is to commit. As for the source of such ominous inclinations, apparently his parents' genes are to blame for this.

Masochisia is a narrative adventure game developed by Oldblood.

Story

Masochisia tells the story of a young man, who is certain that he will become a human monster in the future. This conviction did not come from nowhere – both of his parents are sadists and undoubtedly passed this inclination to him in the genes. As a matter of fact, his older brother already walks the same path. Moreover, the protagonist is haunted by brutal hallucinations that foretell the crimes which he will commit sooner or later.

The game takes on difficult themes, including mental illnesses, depression as well as both physical and psychological violence experienced by children.

Twinfinite: 3 / 5 by Chaz Miller

I won't say that you should buy Masochisia, but if you're interested, it's available for $7.99 on Steam. This is probably a fair price, given the detail that seems to have gone into its development. If you've got no problem delving into some of the darker corners of the human mind, this is a solid pick-up. If any of the topics I mentioned before make you doubt, though, it's probably best to stay away.

The Digital Fix: 6 / 10 by Rob Kershaw

The narrative is delightfully disturbing, but Masochisia needed more meat to its gameplay.

Gamers FTW: 6.9 / 10 by Gabs Tanner

Masochisia immerses players into the world and thought process of a young boy, on a very unstable and difficult road. The title is lacking in player agency, but still draws them in through the clever writing and unsettling art style.
