Mater Obscura: A Sine Requie Tale is a horror movie cRPG, which is based on a license of a popular Italian feature table game. The whole was produced by independent studio Dreampainters, known from Anna's adventure film.

In terms of construction of the world the game presents an unusual approach to the subject of horror with zombies. The arrival of living corpses did not cause the collapse of civilisation here. Instead, it only led to a thorough transformation of people into new state formulas. The title Sanctum Empire is a country that was created in Italy after the fall of the fascists. Pope Leo XIV, who ruled over it, ordered a drastic restriction of access to technology, moving the majority of the population back to a level similar to the Middle Ages. Only a small privileged group, including members of the Inquisition, can still benefit from learning. The story tells the story of a man named Marcello Cappanera and a woman known as Anna Maida. It is worth mentioning that the authors of the paper prototype took part in creating the script.
