Mighty Gunvolt Burst is a continuation of the 2014 release of Mighty Gunvolt (released on PlayStation consoles under the title Gal Gunvolt) from Japanese Inti Creates studio. The company specializes in two-dimensional action games and has, among others, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and Blaster Master Zero.

In Mighty Gunvolt Burst we play the role of Adept, a person with superpowers. The title Gunvolt is a heros capable of controlling lightning, which he uses to fight evil. He is assisted in this by the soul of a girl named Joule who lives in it, providing protection in crisis situations.

The title was built on the foundations of the previous part, but developers introduced a lot of changes in the already known gameplay system. This is a two-dimensional side-scrolled action game with elements of a platformer, which is the easiest to compare to the cult Mega Man. The game is about going through the next levels, where we have a lot of jumping on the platforms and above all, fighting against the numerous enemies.

One of the novelties introduced by Inti Creates is Burst, a special finish on the opponent, providing us with extra points, which is useful when fighting for the best results. Additionally, we can make Burst Combo, i.e. combinations of attacks consisting of single Burst.

Developers have also made available a character customization system. During the game we collect special modules. Thanks to them we can unlock new items used to modify the appearance of the hero. In addition, with Cost Points (CP) you can improve your abilities, e.g. change the type of shot. In addition, new equipment and capacities can be tested before a purchase is approved.

In Mighty Gunvolt Burst there was no shortage of finders. In this case these are stickers with 8-bit heroes. Interestingly, sometimes they fall out of defeated enemies.

Technical issues

Developers of Mighty Gunvolt Burst tried to combine 8-bit with 16-bit graphics. The final effect should be appreciated by every fan of bygone times.
