Release Date: June 19, 2014
A chaotic action game focused on pirate ship duels, played in the local multiplayer mode. The game can take place in one of several typical game modes, and its main goal is to sink enemy ships, using manual skills, environmental elements and a whole host of power-ups and upgrades that are installed on our ships.
Monkey Pirates is a chaotic action game created mainly for multiplayer competition in which we fight other players in crazy sea battles, taking place in several different environments. The game was released on XONE and WiiU and was created by Henchmen Studio, a small independent developer from Montpellier.
Starting the game we choose one of several available "monkey captains", and the goal of each game is to sink opponents' ships to get the bananas they transport. The game can take place in several thematically diverse locations, such as the Caribbean, Arctic, Egypt and China. The key to success is to master and improve several sailing skills (such as using the wind or calculating the right angle of shot) and to skillfully use elements of the environment, such as icebergs, volcanoes, water whirlpools and teleports. The game is also enriched by bonuses and upgrades scattered around the maps, which can be installed on our ships.
Monkey Pirates is designed primarily for local multiplayer gameplay designed for up to 5 people. We can also play alone, and the role of our rivals is then taken over by the AI. The game allows you to compete in one of the several game modes, which are in large part an evolution of classics such as deathmatch or capture the flag.
Monkey Pirates on XONE and WiiU is characterized by a relatively simple graphic design, reminiscent of contemporary mobile productions. However, the whole thing is unusually colorful, and at the same time transparent and with a large dose of "pirate" humor.
