Mr. Saitou is a relaxing story-focused adventure game. It tells the story of a weary middle-aged salaryman transported to a magical land after an accident. The game is set in the same universe as Rakuen.
Mr. Saitou is a narrative fantasy adventure game developed by Laura Shigihara, also responsible for Rakuen from 2017. Both games are part of the same series.
The game tells the story of the titular Mr. Saitou, an overworked middle-aged Japanese salaryman suffering due to constant overtime and lack of close relationship.
One day he gets into an accident, being hospitalized in serious condition. After losing consciousness, he wakes up in a strange magical land, about to take part in an adventure that will change his life forever.
Mr. Saitou is a story-focused adventure game. It doesn't feature combat of any sort, instead focusing on exploration and dialogue. There are also some simple arcade and puzzle challenges that add more variety to the gameplay.
The game was designed to be beatable in a single 2-3 hours sitting.
The game only supports singleplayer.
Mr. Saitou's appealing 2D visuals make use of a pixelated, colorful retro artstyle based on 32-bit jRPGs.
The game's charming soundtrack was composed by Shigihara herself.
