Mutazione is an adventure game whose creators were loosely inspired by series such as Twin Peaks, Lost and Surgeons. The title was developed by the independent Danish studio Die Gute Fabrik.
Mutazione takes us to a tropical holiday resort, which a hundred years ago was hit by a meteorite called Moon Dragon. Those who survived the catastrophe were forced to live in seclusion because their bodies have undergone various mutations. The real action of the game takes place in modern times, and its main character is Kai, who comes to the place to visit her seriously ill grandfather - Nonno. The protagonist spends a week here, during which time she not only helps her relative to recover, but also discovers various secrets of the community.
In Mutazione the action was shown from the side. While walking through the picturesque locations, Kai conducts conversations with NPCs residing in them and performs various tasks for them. In this way, she makes new acquaintances and over time learns more and more about the facility and its inhabitants. What's interesting, the plants growing in this place produce sounds similar to music, so cultivating selected species enables players to adjust the soundtrack to their individual preferences.
Although Mutazione offers only single-player experience, a substitute of multiplayer mode comes in the form of the possibility of sending other players "musical" plants we have cultivated.
Mutazione features colourful two-dimensional graphics in cartoonish style.
