Out of Reach

Out of Reach for PC is a first-person MMO game with RPG elements, representing the popular genre of sandbox survival simulators. Studio Space Boat is behind this production, which has been developed thanks to a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. The authors decided not to emphasize the plot, instead concentrating their efforts on the gameplay that combines the best features of the games from this genre released so far. The player assumes the role of a survivor who gets cast away on one of the islands of an unknown archipelago. What happens later depends only on our decisions.

Gameplay

As in most similar games, one of the most important aspect of the gameplay is survival. As a castaway who has nothing, we need to wisely choose a place that will be our new home, and then take care of the basic needs, such as food or clothing. While exploring the open world filled with meadows, deserts, forests and caves, we come across many species of wild animals that can serve as food. But that's not all. We need to constantly search for raw materials such as wood, stone or linen. By using a special workshop, we can create basic tools, weapons, armor and other items. Interestingly, in the course of the game we can also upgrade them, which affects significantly the parameters of the objects themselves, as well as the characters who wear them. The crafting system was implemented in a very accessible form, so it is equally easy to create simple objects and powerful fortresses, which will be used to defend us against potential enemies. A completely new feature is the ability to construct powerful siege engines, such as trebuchets, ballistas and battering rams. We can control them ourselves, using them to defend the area we live in or to attack an enemy encampment.
