Creating our own dioramas is one of the ideas for a relaxing gameplay experience that various video game creators have explored over the years. Among them is the independent Polish developer Michal Kubas, who is behind the game Outside the Blocks.

Gameplay

Outside the Blocks allows us to design diverse dioramas using a system of modular architectural blocks.

The game features an Autobuild tool that makes it easy to create and modify individual sections of buildings, which serve as the pillars of our miniatures. Additionally, we can bring our creations to life with animated plants, animals, and characters, as well as enhance them with props.

But that's not all - the game also lets us modify the terrain's topography in each diorama, manipulate water levels (which can create puddles, larger bodies of water, or even cover the entire model), and adjust weather and lighting conditions to our personal preferences.
