Paws: A Shelter 2 Game is a PC adventure game set in a world created for the sandbox simulator Shelter 2. The title was developed by an independent Swedish studio Might and Delight, which in addition to the aforementioned Shelter series also has typical arcade games under its belt, such as Pid and The Blue Flamingo.

Story

Paws is a story about the adventures of a little lynx, who, together with his companion, a young bear, travels the vast and dangerous world in search of his home. The plot of the game focuses mainly on the feeling of loss, the search for lost love and the importance of friendship, enabling us to count on the help of someone close to us in a difficult situation.

Mechanics

In terms of mechanics, Paws combines the unique features of the Shelter simulation series with elements of adventure and platform games. This time, however, we play the role not of an adult animal, but of a small cub, while the game, instead of sandbox freedom of action, is based on a linear plot. At the same time, for the first time in the history of the series, we have two heroes at our disposal, who can support each other in solving puzzles and avoiding various traps. Compared to the main game, the action is observed from third-person perspective, and in the game, there are also new abilities, such as tracking using animal senses.

Technical aspects

Paws: A Shelter 2 Game is based entirely on the world created for Shelter 2 and operates with the same unique visuals as the original. In the game we move through a vast, completely three-dimensional world, created using slightly outdated vector graphics, which in combination with considerable amount of details of the world may evoke associations with e.g. impressionistic paintings. In the music layer, we are dealing with a completely new soundtrack, prepared again by the Swedish band Retro Family.
