An indie simulator of evolution. Planetary Life allows us to control the entire planet - from tectonic plates to the temperature of the core. We can design fantasy creatures just like in the game Spore and then observe their growth. The idea is for them to reach an intelligence level high enough to create a civilization.
Planetary Life is a simulator of evolution that combines mechanics from SimEarth: The Living Planet and Spore, in which we are responsible for an entire planet. The sandbox title was developed by the independent studio Sotenbox.
The game allows us to control a planet using many available tools. We allow tectonic plates to shape mountains and seas, we modify the climate, core temperature, volcanic activity or atmospheric gases, all in order to create a home for fantasy creatures.
We design various species in an editor reminiscent of the one from the game Spore. Over time, they evolve from simple organisms into intelligent beings, capable of organizing themselves into tribes, and then into a civilization.
By fulfilling various goals, we unlock tools to influence the world of Planetary Life. To help our creatures survive, we manipulate rainfall, clouds, and surface albedo. We can also cause natural disasters - volcanoes, tsunamis, meteor strikes. To avoid the extinction of species, we maintain a balance between fauna and flora.
Planetary Life is characterized by a minimalist visual design, with models consisting of a small number of polygons.
