Deadly Race

Police Supercars Racing is one of Gametap's low-budget, free (via the Internet) games. Thanks to the efforts of Play-publishing, the title was also commercially edited on a traditional optical medium.

The action of the game takes place in the near future. Sun City authorities have tackled problems such as pollution and unemployment. The metropolis could become a paradise if not for the growing scale of crime. A special police unit has been set up to combat it, with radio carriages from race tracks.

The player takes on the role of a novice officer of the Sun City highway. Its task is to protect the inhabitants from traffic jams, road pirates and all kinds of criminals. This requires the ability to drive quickly, and in some places even cascade through the crowded streets of a virtual metropolis.

There are four models of police supercars available in the game, with only one radio car at the player's disposal at first, and another one can be unlocked while playing. The game was divided into 16 missions including driving from A to B, removing road obstacles, unloading traffic jams and chasing criminals. Evaluation of each task depends on the time spent - the less time spent, the better the result.

The developers of Police Supercars Racing decided to use a very simple driving model. Vehicle control is limited to accelerating, braking, turning and drifting. The physics engine reflects only fundamental laws, including the action of centrifugal force. The result of a collision with obstacles and random traffic participants is a temporary slowing down of the vehicle controlled by the player.

Police Supercars Racing's audiovisual setting clearly indicates the low-cost nature of production. The three-dimensional graphical environment is poor in detail, and virtual car models only resemble their real counterparts to a small extent.
