A third-person RPG starring a young boy named Astor. Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients tasks us with traversing a fantasy world, eliminating hordes of enemies and finding a way to save the realm from dark forces.
Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients is a fast-paced action RPG. It was developed by a Colombian indie team C2 Game Studios and published by Versus Evil.
Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients is set in Gliese - a fantasy world threatened by dark forces. The game's protagonist is Astor; he embarks on a dangerous journey to uncover the secrets of the world's past, solve the mystery of how its ancient inhabitants vanished and find a way to save the land.
Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients is a third-person game. The game is set in many various locations - beautiful outdoors, mysterious ruins and ancient temples. Astor can transport himself to the spirit realm, letting him reach inaccessible places and acquire valuable hints.
On the way, he must face many opponents; regular enemies and powerful bosses. Combat is fast-paced, requiring constant movement, dodging, counter-attacking and chaining our moves into flashy combos. We can wield many different melee and ranged weapons (we can switch between them at any time, even mid-combo), as well as combat skills.
The mightiest of these is Runic Swarm, mysterious energy Astor wields to materialize weapons, tools, distractions, shields and allies. It also lets him execute powerful finishing moves.
As we progress through the game, we acquire orbs used to develop the protagonist. Over time, we unlock new skills and combos, letting us face greater challenges.
Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients features colorful, cartoonish visuals. It runs on the Unreal Engine 4.

Game Ratings for Astor: Blade of the Monolith Video Game.
GamingTrend: 75 / 100 by David Burdette
While it doesn't rewrite the history books of gaming, Astor: Blade of the Monolith is a solid first outing for C2 Game Studio. The combination of a great combat loop with fantastic visuals is a winner, and although the story is a bit devoid of substance, is still an entertaining tale. This is certainly a game the devs can build upon, with potential shining through.
Nintendojo: by Caleb Fink
Given the small team that it was made by, they have done a nice job delivering an entertaining experience. It just falls short by trying to be too many things in its gameplay and not having enough depth in its story to deliver the best experience possible.
Pure Nintendo: 6 / 10 by Rachel Poli
Overall, Astor: Blade of the Monolith is a fun hack-n-slash action game, at least for a little while. The story and the world aren't strong enough to keep your attention, but the battles are fun in the beginning. Soon enough, you'll feel you've seen all the game offers before you've completed the main story.
