Project Winter is a game in which we play the role of a man trying to survive in a frosty tundra, where the threat is not only the environment, but also other people. The game was developed for the eight-player multiplayer mode, in which you can see the inspiration of the social game Mafia. Other Ocean Interactive studio (creators of Giant Cop: Justice Above All, Dark Void Zero and numerous Yu-Gi-Oh series titles) is responsible for creating the production.

In Project Witner we play the role of a man who is stuck in the frozen wilderness together with a group of strangers. Initially, it seems that everyone has the same goal - rescue and safe return home. However, the truth is much darker and it may turn out that wild animals and ubiquitous chill will be the least worry for survivors....

In Project Winter we observe the action from above - from the isometric perspective. When the game starts, each player receives a specific, hidden role and goals to perform. Most of the group's task is to survive in the frozen wilderness until they manage to call for help - this requires cooperation, pooling valuable resources, repairing various facilities and coping with many challenges and threats.

At the same time, however, there are a few traitors in the team who know each other but are not known to the other members of the group. Their task is to prevent the others from being rescued without revealing their identity (detection of fraud is likely to result in death). They do this by gaining the trust of individuals and manipulating them in such a way as to create conflicts within the group. Traitors are initially in a worse position, but as the game progresses, the situation reverses and gains an advantage.

The game ends when all members of the group are safely evacuated....or are traitors' hands or deprived of a chance to be rescued.

Game modes

We can only play Project Winter with others. The game emphasizes cooperation, communication and complexity of interpersonal relations, therefore it would not work in any other format. The basis of the gameplay is an eight-person, network multiplayer mode.

Technical aspects

Three-dimensional graphic design of Project Winter is quite simple, but it looks decent. The creators decided to use an artistic style that brings to mind animated film - thanks to this, the graphics contrast with a rather brutal and uncompromising theme and the game of the title under discussion. The models of the characters are nicely made and animated, and the locations well reflect the atmosphere of the frozen wilderness.
