Badminton is not popular among sports video games. Independent studio DS Soft decided to fill this gap with their debut game, titled Pure Badminton. It features a standard career mode and multiplayer matches.

Gameplay

The dynamic gameplay of Pure Badminton largely relies on skillful control of the player, but proper positioning on the court, timing, and choice of shots are also important. A "light arc" helps with tactics by illustrating in advance how the shuttlecock will fly if it is not returned.

The interface during matches is minimal: besides the score and a stamina bar (which decreases due to fatigue), there is also a power indicator for shots. We can use lobbing, smashes, or step-backs, and serving is accompanied by slow motion.
