A science-fiction TPP action game, which is a third installment in a series created by Volition studio in 2001. The plot of Red Faction: Guerrilla takes place on Mars, 50 years after the events of the first part. During the gameplay, we assume the role of Alec Mason, an engineer who leads a resistance army, hoping to overthrow the tyranny of an organization called Earth Defense Force.

Red Faction: Guerrilla for PC, PS3 and X360 is an action game, which is the third installment in a series established in 2001. Volition studio developed the game, while THQ took up the duties of a publisher. The developer is known not only from the previous installments of the series, but also for two editions of brilliant Freespace, and The Punisher, known for its immense brutality.

Once again, the plot takes us to Mars. This time, the story begins 50 years after the events of the first Red Faction. We assume the role of an adventurer, who is openly rebelling against the oppression of Earth Defense Force, which earns him a death sentence.

Mechanics

As a brave unit and part of the resistance, we conduct a kind of guerrilla warfare. Our responsibilities include diligent planning of the attacks, and making quick decisions. Moreover, we are frequently forced to use the elements of the environment for cover against the attacks or to stay hidden. This intensifies the ubiquitous sense of being in danger. In Red Faction: Guerrilla for PC, PS3 and X360 we watch the action from third person perspective, behind the back of our protagonist. During the gameplay, we visit an immense, open world, located on an alien planet. Among others, we visit an abandoned mining outpost and the main headquarters of Earth Defence Force.

One of the key elements of the third Red Faction is the system of destructible environment. With it, the walls are not an issue, while destroying the neighborhood with explosives and mining tools isn’t anything extraordinary. The system also constitutes for uniqueness of the multiplayer mode, which bases mainly on the impressive posibilities of deforming the environment.
