RTL Biathlon 2009 is the third installment of a sports series created by 49Games on behalf of the RTL Entertainment group. Like the previous parts of the series, the game focuses on biathlon, allowing players to play as real licensed skiers and race on 20 actual winter tracks, located in 15 countries.

Game modes

RTL Biathlon 2009 offers a range of single-player gameplay options, from the most important - career, through single competitions, cups and leagues, to training. Each of the competitions can be played on three levels of difficulty, and in multiplayer mode, where players can expect challenges for two (in split-screen mode) or four (hot-seat mode) people.

When deciding on a career variant, we choose a sportsman (or a sportswoman - e.g. Magdalena Neuner, a 6-time world champion in biathlon), whom we want to lead in the series of competitions, develop their skills, improve equipment and negotiate contracts with sponsors. Then, we move to snow-covered locations, where alternately - running on skis and shooting at the set goals, we try to be the first to reach the finish line. Developers at 49Games made sure that our opponents in RTL Biathlon 2009 behave more intelligently than ever before and move around in a realistic way.

Technical aspects

Events presented in RTL Biathlon 2009 feature professional commentary and the impression of the authenticity of the trophy fight is further enhanced by the spontaneous reaction of the audience, which encourages the biathletes, especially those who are a few meters away from the finish line. Improvements in the audio-visuals also include refined environments, detailed character models, reliable animation and changing weather conditions that can affect the results of the races.
