The Orion Project
The Orion Project

Action 20 March 2017

A science-fiction based “twin-stick” shooter that is a prequel to Orion: Prelude - a dynamic, multiplayer-oriented shooter, being a spiritual heir to the whole series created by Spiral Game Studios. The plot of Guardians of Orion (previously known as The Orion Project) takes place 10 years before the events known from its predecessor. The titular planet, Orion, is the stage of fierce battles for resources between humans and dinosaurs that inhabit the place. The gameplay is presented from a top-down view, but the point of the game hasn’t been changed – we are still forced to do constant battles with continuous hordes of enemies, whose ranks include already seen and completely new types of dinosaurs alike, as well as drones, absent from the previous game. The title focuses mainly on cooperation mode, with three classes available at the player’s disposal, each sporting different abilities and many futuristic weaponry and gadgets.

ORION: Prelude
ORION: Prelude

Action 25 August 2014

A science-fiction first-person shooter, created with multiplayer gameplay in mind. The game is a commercial continuation to a Source-based mod for Half-Life 2, but unlike its predecessor, ORION: Prelude employs Unreal Engine 3.0., a much more up-to-date and advanced technology. The action of the game takes place on an unspecified planet, similar to prehistoric Earth. The gameplay itself is inspired by the most iconic multiplayer shooters, such as Quake, Halo, Counter-Strike or Unreal Tournament, and focuses on multiplayer clashes in one of several available game modes (for example, deathmatch, co-op, or capture the flag). Six different classes and quite a big arsenal (more than 30 types) of weapons and other gadgets, such as jetpack, are at the player’s disposal. During combat, we can use a number of vehicles, and as the gameplay takes place in prehistoric times, we face not only other players, but also powerful and bloodthirsty dinosaurs.

Action 15 April 2013

A sequel to the FPS co-op shooter game series by Spiral Game Studios, and an enhanced version of ORION: Dino Beatdown released one year earlier. The game is set in a science-fiction world, and the players take on the roles of space marines, who are sent to a distant, resources-rich planet, with the task of eliminating the deadly dinosaurs living there. The game was created with the co-op mode in mind, and it features five different variants of the gameplay for up to 10 players (including one, in which you can play as a dinosaur). Compared to its predecessor, ORION: Dino Horde features enhanced enemy AI and graphics engine with new lighting system and better animations. The game also introduces new maps, 7 new species of dinosaurs, more weaponry and vehicles, and the option to get implants, which upgrade your character's abilities.

ORION: Dino Beatdown

Action 04 May 2012

A cooperative FPP shooter developed by Spiral Game Studios, and a spin-off to ORION: Source – a popular Half-Life 2 modification. ORION: Dino Beatdown takes place in the future. We clash with hordes of dinosaurs on an alien planet divided into three vast locations. During the gameplay, we can either act alone or gang-up into a five-man team. Each of the players assumes the role of a character representing one of the three classes – Assault, Support, or Recon, which use a wide range of weapons and gadgets assigned to each class. Vehicles are an additional highlight – we can choose from buggies, mechs, tanks, or flying machines. By completing tasks and killing enemies, we acquire credits which we can spend on new weapons, abilities, upgrades or vehicles, delivered to a spot of our choice. Despite the low-budget feel of the game, the visuals are pleasant, characterized by fresh colors and a huge number of special effects.
