Ape Escape: On The Loose is based on a series of Ape Escape games released for PlayStation and PlayStation 2. The action-packed platformer was prepared by Sony's Japanese branch - SCEJ. The publisher is, of course, the parent company of Sony Computer Entertainment.

Ape Escape: Academy belongs to a popular cycle whose main element are the title crazy monkeys. This time, however, developers decided to follow a slightly different path and created a game that resembles a Mario Party product line.
