Shifting World is a special version of the popular flash game Shift, created by Fishing Cactus studio. The title contains elements created especially for the Nintendo 3DS console, which were absent in its earlier versions.

The main character of the game is a mysterious man in a hat, who is summoned to the villa of an equally mysterious Prince of Shadows. The Prince, for undefined reasons, bonds our hero and subjects him to a series of trials taking place in another dimension, where he has to demonstrate reflexivity, perceptiveness and the ability to think logically.

At first glance Shifting World is a typical platformer that only stands out with its characteristic black and white graphics. The goal of players is to reach the end of each location and avoid deadly pitfalls on the road. Individual levels are real labyrinths of intersecting corridors and blind alleys. To cope with this galimatias we have to use special options, which were given to us by the creators. In certain areas of the board, after touching a special icon, we transform the whole level and change its appearance. We can rotate it 45 degrees, turn its colours, transforming the empty space where we moved into solid blocks and walls, as well as switching between three-dimensional and two-dimensional views. In the latter, the solids floating freely in the background become fixed elements of the level, blocking or facilitating our journey. The bottom screen of the console shows a full level map, which is particularly useful as it allows you to quickly see the entire layout of the environment. On the top screen, let's observe the whole action and control the hero. The stages are quite extensive and demanding, because the authors did not foresee the possibility of recording the state of the game during the journey. So just one small mistake and we come back to the beginning of the level.

Shifting World has three game modes. In the adventure, which is the equivalent of the campaign, we go through more and more difficult and complex boards, of which there are 60 in total. In the second, we can choose any already completed level and face it again. In the third, we will do the same, but with the time limit turned on.
