Sigonyth is a game representing the MMORPG genre, created by a Polish development group, New Desert. Players have the opportunity to play as descendants of the colonists who came to the title planet Sigonyth. The creators of the game gave us a choice of 3 races of characters: People, cyborgs (people who integrated machine parts into their bodies) and mutants (Vovian), whose bodies changed under the influence of defective devices used by the first colonists.
The world of Sigonyth is a vast desert planet. The voyage of the colonization ship, which Sigonyth had just set itself the goal, for unknown reasons extended from 65 to 281 years. Cyborgs, who practically controlled the ship during the flight, built for themselves the city of City One, later named Rash-Khan. Then, on a distant continent, a second city, named after the planet, Sigonyth, was built, in which unmodified people were to live. The Cyborgs did not tell people the truth about the duration of their journey, claiming that the colonization ship that they had arrived had broken down and crashed on the surface of the planet. After some time, as a result of the action of substances used in the filters used in the respiratory atmosphere of the planet, mutations have appeared among the human population. There were more and more mutants and in 93 years since the creation of the human city their uprising broke out. After defeating the people, the mutants established their settlement on the southern hemisphere of the planet. At the moment, i.e. about 200 years after landing on the planet, all three nations inhabiting the planet manage to lead a relatively peaceful existence. The real enemy of all is the harsh climate of the planet Sigonyth.
In the hands of players, as in the case of MMO games, a huge world has been given away. Our character can travel through the desert, fight against the creatures he encounters, or take care of his daily work: raising animals, working in mines or running his own business. Also the government or trade guilds can commission our character to carry out certain missions. Tasks in the game are quite complex and often consist of several smaller, non-linear missions, the performance of which makes the success of the main task dependent. Choosing a character from one of the available races has an influence on her later development. Each race has its own specific skills, special abilities and basic elements - mechanical parts in cyborgs, mutations in Vovian and characteristics specific to humans.
For the needs of Sigonyth an original cRPG system was created. The player's character is described by a number of factors, describing, among others, mental strength and abilities, skills chosen and developed, as well as the corresponding so-called strengths. Skills are developed automatically, on an ongoing basis depending on the actions taken by the player (work in the mine develops mining), while new skills, strengths and points of life have the opportunity to gain as the player progresses to the next levels of experience.
The creators of the game created a rather complex social system. Players can organize themselves in the form of guilds, buy houses, business premises or shops, as well as guild headquarters, the possibility of employing independent heroes has also been considered. Items present in the game can be acquired, but we can also create them ourselves (if we have the appropriate skills) or convert them.
