Space Empires: Battle for Supremacy is the next installment of the Space Empires series of strategic commercial games set in space. In the latest edition, Strategy First, the publisher, decided to share his game via social networking sites.
This time three races fight for primacy and power over the universe. At the beginning, the player must choose on which side of the conflict he or she will choose. The first of the factions presented in the game is Norak Empire - a new bio-mechanical race, whose aim is to plunder as many planets and stars as possible in order to accumulate the energy needed to release its god Xel-Nathu. Another side of the conflict is Amon'krie Continuum - one of the oldest and most religious races in the Universe. She considers the Noraks to be a great danger and wants to annihilate them. Terrorism is the third available race that the survivors of the great catastrophe are. They want to take the Noraks into captivity and discover the secrets behind their empire's advanced technology.
Space Empires: Battle for Supremacy combines both the characteristics of its predecessors and aspects of social networks. On a strategic scale, of course, the "4X" principle still applies. (eXpand, eXplore, eXploit, eXterminate). The first task of the players is to explore two huge galaxies filled to the brim with stars and planetary systems. In the new worlds we collect available raw materials, which are then needed for the technological and military development of our empire. Once we are equipped with a sufficiently strong and advanced star fleet, we can begin extensive warfare against our enemies. Apart from military solutions, we can also choose the diplomatic path of expansion, i.e. forming alliances.
It is the social side of the game that allows you to build the above mentioned alliances based on our real friendships. Thanks to the internal system of emails, huts, and auxiliary links, we are able to support our friends in building their galactic empire. Similarly, the option of recruiting friends and giving virtual gifts is designed to strengthen both galactic and interpersonal ties.
As the game is dedicated to social networking sites, its graphics are modest and simple. The lack of visual layer is made up for by atmospheric, ambient music associated with cosmic strategic titles from the mid-1990s.
