Sparklite is an action adventure game with RPG elements, developed by an independent Red Blue Games studio. Among the sources of inspiration for their project, the artists mention such positions as Rogue Legacy and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
Sparklite takes us to the fantastic land of Geodia. Its title substance is not only the life force of the planet, but it is also a great source of energy, and when consumed, it provides incredible power. The self-proclaimed Baron decided to use her properties to his advantage and drive her to powerful war machines. He ignores the fact that its exploitation on a large scale destroys the world around him - the environment is in a deplorable state and the animals living in Geodia turn into bloodthirsty monsters. The last hope for the restoration of the old order in the land is Ada, the main character of the story. The protagonist must embark on a dangerous journey through Geodia and destroy the Baron's mines, while helping the inhabitants she meets along the way.
In Sparklite, the action was shown from a bird's eye view. The world presented here consists of five different biomes. Individual locations are generated procedurally, so they look a little different after each adventure and we have to face different challenges. As we travel through these places, we are primarily concerned with fighting our opponents. Clashes are dynamic, and in order to eliminate every opponent standing in our way (with powerful bosses at the forefront), we must skillfully use the opportunities of the acquired arsenal (which consists primarily of various types of firearms), as well as various gadgets. The latter also allow us to solve occasional environmental puzzles that block the road ahead, as well as the unlocked skills of a levitating robot following the protagonist along the way. Ada meets various inhabitants of Geodia, whose sympathy she gains by helping them cope with their troubles.
Sparklite can be played alone or in a local co-op mode where the other player takes control of the above-mentioned robot that accompanies the heroine.
Graphic design of Sparklite game was made in pixel art technique. The whole is kept in a colorful style reminiscent of the older scenes of The Legend of Zelda series.
