Steamfarer is a steampunk RPG game developed for the PC platform. Independent developer Igor Rashkuev is responsible for the project. It is worth mentioning that the game was awarded in the "best graphics" category during Level Up 2015, an event dedicated to indie games organized by Intel.

Story

Steamfarer takes us to a fantastic land in a steampunk climate. This means that society is culturally similar to what existed in the Victorian era, but at the same time the level of technological development is much higher and all advanced machines use steam engines.

The player takes on the role of the captain of an aircraft, powered by steam engines, which sets out into the world to gain fame and wealth. The game has a very loose plot and allows us to decide for ourselves in what direction the fate of the hero and his subordinate crew will take place.

Mechanics

World Steamfarer has mostly an open structure and we spend time exploring locations, performing tasks and fighting heavenly battles. The clashes were realized by means of a hybrid combat system, in which the battles are divided into rounds, but each of them gives us a limited time to issue commands. Production offers numerous tactical options, such as using useful gadgets or targeting enemy ships to damage important on-board equipment.

Steamfarer focuses mainly on the battle aspect and offers a large variety of enemies, including ground units. In addition to battles with ordinary enemies, there are also battles with powerful bosses, whose size completely overwhelms the player's ship.

However, our ship is so large and complicated that it is not an option to manage it on your own, which is why it is necessary to recruit the crew. As the campaign progresses, subordinates gain experience points and learn new skills. The PC version of Steamfarer also offers numerous options for modifying the ship's equipment, and after some time the player can accumulate enough funds to buy larger and more powerful units.
