Due to its strategic importance, the Scandinavian Peninsula would be a significant target during a potential global or continental scale conclict. The developers from the independent Swedish studio 5 Fortress, in collaboration with Yahaha Games, started with this assumption when creating the extraction shooter described here, titled Striden.

Gameplay

In Striden we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP).

Looting and escaping

The game transports us to Scandinavia torn by war between the East and the West. After the tactical nuclear warheads were activated, the world stood on the brink of annihilation, and the social order almost completely collapsed.

During the game, we play as soldiers whose task is to plunder the piece of land given to them, call for a rescue helicopter, and safely evacuate. It is not easy, as they have to earn 15 thousand points (awarded for collecting "trinkets", construction and combat actions), and also independently construct a fully functional radio transmitter. As if that wasn't enough, they are pursued by other groups who have the same goals.

Fortress and fights with opponents

While exploring the map, we need to gather food, weapons and their components, as well as blueprints for the crafting system. Additionally, we acquire resources that are used to improve and expand the fortress. The fortress serves as our command center, the "heart" of which is the transmitter we are building and it may be the target of attacks from enemies. Nevertheless, our group can also launch assaults on enemy bases.
