An adventure-puzzle game, in which we play as a young shepherd. Traversing the beautiful land alongside his faithful dog, the protagonist of Summerhill tries to unite his sheep flock and learn the secrets of a long-forgotten past.
Summerhill is an adventure-puzzle game developed by the indie studio Land & Sea. They're BAFTA nominees responsible for the warmly received Alto's series.
Summerhill tells the story of a young shepherd traversing a beautiful land in search of his missing sheep alongside his faithful dog. He visits various places and discovers long-forgotten secrets of the past.
There's no dialogue in the game, though the story touches on such topics of growing up, a sense of duty, friendship and morality.
Summerhill makes use of the top-down perspective. The game is set in various locations through which we lead found sheep. We must solve clever environmental puzzles to open up new paths. These require interacting with ancient devices scattered around the area, as well as cooperation between the hero, his dog and the flock.
Summerhill features relatively simple, though also colorful, atmospheric and cartoonish visuals. The folk-inspired soundtrack was composed by Todd Baker, also known for his work on Monument Valley and Dreams.
