Surgeon Simulator CPR is a funny medical game released on Nintendo Switch. The game is a refreshed and improved version of Surgeon Simulator 2013 that debuted on PC and was a commercial and upgraded version of a free game Surgeon Simulator. The new game was developed by Bossa Studios.
The main protagonist is Nigel Burke. The title of the game is ironic because the protagonist isn’t a surgeon yet. This doesn’t stop him from trying to operate living people. The game features a large dose of black humor.
The action in Surgeon Simulator CPR is presented from a first-person perspective. The gameplay focuses on ineffective attempts at operating a patient that usually end in destroying his body. It is worth mentioning that the interface of the game was designed from scratch with the use of unique functions of Nintendo Switch in mind – mostly two joy-cons that simulate the movements of players’ hands. Thanks to the HD Rumble function, the players can precisely feel the difference between various tools used during the “operations” (this includes both the surgeon and house equipment, like a hammer).
What’s interesting, the system that manages the gameplay was designed in such way that the player cannot fully control it. The repercussions of the players’ actions are amusing – for example, one can accidentally throw away the lungs of the patient, break his ribs or drop his heart on the floor. The game features a few types of challenges like transplantations of heart and brain, teeth operation and eyes operation. It is even possible to perform an autopsy of… an alien. Each task must be completed within a time limit.
Surgeon Simulator CPR can be played alone or with another player. The multiplayer mode is very simple – one player must simply share his or her joycon with the second player.
The graphics in Surgeon Simulator CPR don’t differ much from graphics in other editions of the game. The textures and models of characters and surroundings aren’t very impressive. However, the visuals have some charm and they add an atmosphere to the game.
