Another title under the Tetris brand. French company Ubisoft, cooperating with The Tetris Company, is responsible for the production. The game offers already known improved multiplayer solutions for up to 4 players and Marathon, Endless, Ultra, Sprint, Battle and Power-Up Battle modes.
Tetris Ultimate is another edition of one of the most popular games in history. It is also the first version of the arcade production released on the eighth generation of consoles - Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It was produced by Ubisoft company, known for such titles as Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, Rayman or Assassin's Creed. The title was released exclusively via digital distribution.
The game features well-known mechanics, expanded with some innovations, including multiplayer for up to 4 people and game modes, such as Marathon, Endless, Ultra, Sprint, Battle, and Power-Up Battle. Basically the gameplay boils down to arranging bricks of different sizes falling from the top of the screen, so that they formed complete horizontal lines, which then disappear. Moreover, in accordance with modern trends and features offered by Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, Tetris Ultimate greatly focuses on social aspects. Therefore, the program constantly monitors the performance of your friends, so even when they are offline, you can try to beat their scores. There is also no shortage of special events organized from time to time, and world ranks, where you can check out the best players’ scores.
The game shows off modern graphics, full of various lighting effects. However, the whole thing is still kept in classic style.

Tetris Ultimate proves that the classic formula still works, and perhaps should be left be. The best features of the new game come from four-player versus, co-op, and things like leaderboards and an activity feed. Unfortunately, with technical issues abound and some design choices that grate on the player over time Tetris Ultimate just doesn't feel like it does the title justice. It doesn't ring as the "Ultimate" version of the old Russian puzzler. The game still functions as it should, and some new modes are halfway interesting, but the sum of the parts just doesn't add up to a great version of Tetris. If you've already got a version of Tetris, you're better off sticking with it, as Tetris Ultimate will really only show value to those craving the 4-player experience, or if you're truly hungry for the latest Tetris release. Otherwise if you're on PC and want a Tetris game, you can literally play it free on the official Tetris website.

Though there are some annoyances, Tetris Ultimate preserves the core gameplay that has kept people hooked for three decades. Unfortunately, it does very little to differentiate itself from the norm.
