The Executive: Movie Industry Tycoon allows us to influence many aspects of our movies, including casting, genre and budget. All the money we make can be invested in studio's expansion, as well as purchasing new technologies and hiring better actors.
The Executive: Movie Industry Tycoon is an economic strategy in which we run our own film studio. The game was developed by the independent French team Aniki Games.
In The Executive: Movie Industry Tycoon, we play as a director of a Hollywood film studio, starting in the movie business in the 1970s. Our task is to manage our studio in such a way as to enable its growth and transformation into one of the industry giants.
In The Executive: Movie Industry Tycoon, events are viewed in an isometric view. Our primary task is to produce films that are profitable and appeal to both audiences and critics (although not every single work is able to achieve all these goals simultaneously).
The game allows us to decide on many aspects of individual movies. We choose their theme and the genre they represent, and we also decide which actors we will hire and which of their elements should be treated as a priority. For example, when creating a movie about dinosaurs, it's worth funding animatronics and other special effects. On the other hand, when preparing a work in which actors will have to speak with an accent foreign to them, we should consider hiring a specialist for the latter.
In order to achieve success, we must constantly examine the prevailing moods in the industry, studying the ever-changing preferences of viewers and reviewers, as if through a kaleidoscope. We can find out how we managed after the film is released, looking at its ratings and earnings reflecting artistic and commercial results. Of course, the "life" of a given project does not end after the cinema premiere. Over time, we can allow viewers to enjoy it in the comfort of their own homes, and if we consider it a success, there is nothing to prevent us from turning the film into a series.
Along the way, we must face various complications and make difficult business decisions. For example, a scandal involving one of our stars requires hiring a PR agency that will try to "put out the fire". We can handle the distribution of the film ourselves or rely on one of the potential partners.
Besides, it's worth paying attention to what the competition is doing, and not letting them tread on our heels (and certainly not allowing them to overtake us). In addition to this, we should not forget that when we have a strong brand in hand, it is easy to "dilute" it (through overproduction of films representing it), which can bring us quite a lot of trouble.
Over time, we accumulate funds that we can allocate for the development of the studio and new technologies. Moreover, as we earn more money, we gain the ability to create increasingly expensive films and hire increasingly expensive (and therefore, better) actors. In favorable circumstances, all this should allow us to further develop our film empire.
