Splinter Cell 3DS is a Nintendo 3DS conversion of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, enriched with a range of features that came into the popular spy game series in Splinter Cell: Conviction. The game was developed by Ubisoft company.

The story is set in 2008, when the world gets struck by a series of strange events - massive energy networks failures, a sabotage on the stock exchange market, and breaking into international defense systems. While the uncertainty increases, the political situation becomes less and less stable. Japan creates a special espionage system, which meets with the indignation of the neighboring countries. Disputes grow. The United States try to alleviate the tension, but unfortunately only aggravate the situation. The communist North Korea wants to take advantage of the situation and eliminate its opponents from the South. It talks more and more about preparations for war.

Sam Fisher is sent deep into foreign territories, in order to prevent the conflict from escalating. Mission objectives include capturing secret data, assassination of dangerous individuals or kidnapping them. Should you choose to solve these problems in a way that befits a true secret agent or will you abandon all reason just to launch into bloodbath? How mission objectives are achieved depends entirely on you.

In terms of gameplay mechanics this is an almost 100% Chaos Theory conversion. However, creators decided to enrich the game with a number of innovations introduced to the series in Splinter Cell: Conviction. This includes e.g. displaying instructions on objects and buildings.
