An oldschool mobile arcade game by Happymagenta UAB, stylistically similar to first arcade games ever created. In Tomb of the Mask you play as a treasure hunter, who finds a magical mask, which gives him the ability to walk on walls and ceilings. This newfound skill helps him in exploring an underground maze in search of precious artifacts, as well as avoiding traps and enemies.
Tomb of the Mask is an arcade game in which the player goes through a maze full of traps, treasures and opponents. The game was developed by Happymagenta studio, which focuses on producing games and applications for iOS devices. Tomb of the Mask with its neon palette of colors, exploratory theme and simplicity of the graphics rightly brings to mind the first arcade productions.
The player takes on the role of a treasure hunter who, after finding a magic mask, gains the ability to walk on walls and ceilings. This skill allows them to explore the underground tomb-labyrinth in search of valuable artifacts, avoid fancy traps and run away from enemies. You can unlock more masks that give you different powers and facilitate further gameplay.
The player controls the character by sliding their finger on the screen. We have to keep climbing because the maze is moving vertically. Levels in Tomb of the Mask are generated procedurally meaning that each next fragment of the labyrinth is generated randomly as the game goes. This makes every playthrough different from the previous one, so the game will not get bored too quickly. The game itself is very dynamic and the player has to make quick decisions, e.g. whether to come back to collect a coin or how to get out of a complicated spot. The labyrinth itself never ends. Life can be lost either by bumping into one of the enemies or by being "crushed" by the bottom edge of the screen. Then you can "buy" a new life for 500 coins acquired in the previous round or watch an advertisement and then come back to the game.
Tomb of the Mask on the iOS uses pixel art graphics. All the elements are easy to notice thanks to the black background and the animations are smooth and pleasing to the eye.
