Toon Army is an action game with a first person perspective, designed mainly to play on the web. It is distinguished from other representatives of this species by its rather loose approach to the subject matter of World War II. Unlike titles such as Battlefield 1942, Toon Army does not try to be realistic, but on the contrary - it seems caricatured and more like a cartoon than a battlefield simulation. The reason for this state of affairs is, first of all, the image of soldiers fighting with each other. They are built very disproportionately - they have unnaturally big heads, which are often found in fairy tale characters. In addition, the elements on the battlefield (trees, watchtowers, etc.) are also conspicuous - they are twisted and bent, which brings to mind animated films.

Up to 32 soldiers can fight against each other at any one time, which can be both controlled by live players and controlled by computer AI. In single player mode, the game is divided into two campaigns, one of which is set in Africa and the other in Europe. If it is only possible to fight with Axis forces against the Allies, in multiplayer mode players can choose which side of the conflict they want to take. Each of them naturally has its own specific weaponry, including many different vehicles, but there is nothing to prevent you from taking your opponent's weapon and using it yourself. In some points of the map there is also a "neutral" weapon, of course. (machine gun positions, artillery, etc.), which does not belong to any of the teams, and gaining it can significantly help to achieve victory. It is also possible to call for airborne and artillery support.

The game uses an original Brat Designs engine called Mercury, which has already proven itself on the occasion of the Breed shooter. Thanks to this Toon Army has a good graphic design, and it is possible to implement variable weather conditions (including fog, rain and snow) and a number of advanced special effects (such as lighting and shading). Moreover, the authors have tried to make sure that everything in sight can be destroyed during the fight, so trees or buildings are not an obstacle.
