A shooter from Arena FPS genre developed by the German studio Reakktor Media and inspired by FPP shooters from the 90s. The story of TOXIKK takes place in the 22nd century, when mega-corporations and cartels took over the Earth after a global energy crisis. Two of such companies play major role in the game: EXOCOM and DRAYOS, competing for EDEN – a recently discovered mineral that can remedy the energy problems of the world.
TOXIKK. for PC is an Arena FPS developed by German studio of Reakktor Media.
The story takes place in 22th century, right after energy crisis that resulted in countries losing any power, as huge corporations and cartels have taken over. Two of such – created by combining a few European and American companies EXOCOM and DRAYOS, established by Russian oligarch Dmitri Drayos. They fight over EDEN – a newly discovered mineral that can solve the energy problem of Earth. However, neither side wants to give on their supremacy, so they engage in brutal fights over EDEN resources. We play as a mercenary hired by one of those corporations.
Gameplay of TOXIKK. for PC seems like mix of Unreal Tournament and Halo series. Players battle on two types of maps: Classic and Massive. First one gives medium-sized locations and quick battles for 8 people, while the latter offers more strategic fun for 16 players, with bigger maps and vehicles, including hoverbikes. Developers prepared 9 different guns, each with alternative shooting mode. But we start with only single melee attack and pistol – everything else must be picked up during match. Game is quick, arcade and skill-oriented, as players have to keep moving, dodge and make use of a double-jump.
TOXIKK. offers character customization, though it’s purely cosmetic feature to ensure equal chances of winning. Players also earn experience and level up, but that still doesn’t affect gameplay.
The game is based on Unreal Engine and allows creation of user content, like maps, characters and skins, which are put on display in special place, where other players can vote for best project.
