A horror-themed HOPA adventure game about finding important objects hidden on static screens. True Fear: Forsaken Souls features a female protagonist who's trying to solve her family's mystery, as well as to deal with the dark presence haunting members of the family.
In the portfolio of Goblinz Enterprises studio, the leading title is a horror-themed HOPA (Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure) production titled True Fear: Forsaken Souls, which is a game where our primary role is searching for hidden items. The first chapter of this game (subtitled Part 1) was released in 2016, followed by its sequel (Part 2) two years later, and the third part of the story (Part 3) premiered in 2025.
In True Fear: Forsaken Souls the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP). We cannot freely move around the locations. Instead, the gameplay involves viewing static screens depicting locations and solving puzzles that require interacting with objects and searching for hidden items on the screen. Interestingly, the developers allow players to opt out of the hidden object element.
As the game progresses, we learn more about the main character, the places we visit, and also past events. The story is conveyed through cutscenes and entries in the protagonist's diary.
In True Fear: Forsaken Souls we play as Holly Stonehouse. She attempts to unravel the mystery of her past and learn more about her family. In search of answers, she visits her home and the Dark Falls Asylum, where she attracts the attention of a dark force that follows her family lineage.
